It's over now.

So, it's been a good day. Woke up early, ran a marathon and went to an all you can eat/drink brunch. Crazy. For those of you that knew, this is old news, but I ran a marathon this weekend and it was well, it was awful and great all at once. The first 20k felt great, next 5k still felt good, 25 - 30k, still ok, 30k-35k pretty hard, 35 - 40 ok, 40k-42k horrible. I had to walk a bit, about 50 meters, between 40 -41k, every time my feet hit the ground, my knees just about killed me, it was pretty awful. In a real world I would have finished strong and loved the whole thing and it would have been this great experience, anyone who ever says that is lying. One of the guys from my running group yelled out "400 meters, you're almost there" and basically I wanted to kill him. I could see the finish line, but it seemed like it was a zillion miles away; I don't care how much training anyone does 42 kilometers is just too far. I waited around for my friends to finish the marathon and the 10k that started later, then we all showered real quick and headed to Double Decker for brunch. I didn't eat or drink enough during the race, as expected, but I surely made up for it at out brunch. A bunch of people went to Waxy O'Conners after brunch,  Jess and I went to Starbucks (shocking) had a sandwich and some coffee, and then went to go meet everyone else. We walked in, feet sticking to the floor, pushing our way through the crowds, it was only 6:00pm, pathetic. Before we even made it up to our friends, we decided we couldn't take the place and went to a wine bar instead. Our friend came with us and called another friend and said she was trapped in "yuppie hell" and was going to meet her wherever she was. Nice. I thought the place was great, but what do I know. I'm so happy the marathon is over, I'll still go to the Friday morning running club, but now I won't feel obligated... Apparently the floods have dried up, I guess we'll have to go back to work next week, sad.

Congrats for sure!!! I wish that you were here in Hood River to come by and have a salad and a glass or two of wine (or the bottle) to make the pains go away!!!!!
